Terms and conditions
Version 1.1 · Last updated: 2026-09-07
1. Who we are
AIRVALL B.V. rents out power banks through self-service terminals at cafés, hotels, shops, sports clubs and comparable venues in the Netherlands. Our company details are at the bottom of this page. In these terms “we” or “Airvall” means AIRVALL B.V., and “you” means the person renting a power bank.
2. What these terms apply to
These terms apply to every rental of a power bank at an Airvall terminal, whether you rent through the app or start contactless at the terminal itself. They also apply to the use of our app and this website. Venue owners hosting a terminal have a separate partnership agreement, which takes precedence over these terms where the two differ.
3. How the rental is formed
The rental agreement is formed the moment the power bank leaves the terminal's slot. Before that moment the app or the terminal screen shows you what the rental costs. By starting the rental you accept these terms.
4. What it costs
The rate is €4 per day started, per power bank. A day runs from the moment you take the power bank, not from midnight. There is no subscription, no deposit and no per-minute or per-hour rate. No costs are added that were not stated in advance.
5. Paying
In the app you pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay, a payment card or another payment method on offer. When the rental starts you pay the first day immediately. By doing so you also authorise us to store your payment method and use it for the costs arising from the same rental — the remaining rental days when you return the power bank and, if you do not return it, the fee under clause 7 — without you confirming that payment at that moment. If you start contactless at the terminal, an amount is reserved on your payment method there; after you return the power bank we only charge the actual rental and the rest of the reservation lapses. Payment runs through our payment service provider; we do not store card details ourselves.
6. When the rental ends
The rental ends the moment the power bank clicks into a free slot at an Airvall terminal — any terminal, in any town. You do not need to finish anything off in the app. You receive a receipt with the days charged straight afterwards.
7. If you do not return the power bank
If you do not return the power bank within 72 hours, we treat it as not returned. At that point the following happens:
- the rental ends automatically and is charged up to that moment — a maximum of three days, so €12
- we additionally charge the replacement fee for the device itself; you see that amount before starting in the app or on the terminal, and it is currently €30
- the power bank is then yours and does not need to be returned
- the total therefore comes to a maximum of €42 and is immediately due
8. If a payment fails
If we cannot collect an amount you owe, we immediately email you a payment link so you can still pay easily. After that, the following happens:
- we retry the charge on your stored payment method a few more times over the following days
- if payment is still not made, you receive a final notice with a payment term of fourteen days, as required by Dutch law
- if you pay within that term, you only pay the outstanding amount and all follow-up steps stop automatically
- if you do not pay within that term, you additionally owe the statutory extrajudicial collection costs (a minimum of €40) and we may hand the claim over to a collection agency
9. If you return it later after all
If something went wrong and you still want to return the power bank, get in touch. We will look at what is reasonable together. You have no right to this, but in practice we are flexible about it.
10. What we ask of you during the rental
For as long as you have the power bank:
- use the power bank for what it is meant for: charging phones, earbuds, e-readers and comparable devices
- do not open the casing and do not try to repair or modify it
- do not expose it to water, fire or extreme heat
- do not pass it on to someone else without making them aware of these terms
- return it at an Airvall terminal and not anywhere else
11. Damage and loss
If the power bank breaks through normal use, that is our risk and you pay nothing extra. If the damage was caused by intent, gross negligence or use contrary to clause 10, we may charge the replacement fee shown (currently €30). If you lose the power bank, the arrangement in clause 7 applies.
12. If the power bank does not work
If the power bank does not work or does not charge, return it at a terminal and report it through the app or by email. We correct the rental and take the device out of circulation. Every terminal tests a power bank automatically on return.
13. Availability of terminals
We do our best to keep terminals working and reachable, but we cannot guarantee that a specific terminal is available or has free slots at a specific moment. Opening hours are those of the venue itself; if it is closed you cannot return a power bank there. The app shows in advance which locations are open and how much room there is. If you cannot return it anywhere because terminals nearby are full or out of service, get in touch — we will not charge you for that time.
14. Account and app
You do not need an account to rent at a terminal. If you do create one, you are responsible for your login details. If you suspect someone else has access, let us know. You can have your account deleted at any time; what we are legally required to keep for our records will remain.
15. Our liability
We are liable for damage that is the direct result of a failure on our part, up to the amount you paid for the rental in question, with a minimum of €150. This limitation does not apply in the case of intent or wilful recklessness on our part, nor to damage to life, body or health. We are not liable for damage to your phone or other devices, unless that damage was demonstrably caused by a defect in the power bank. Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law.
16. Right of withdrawal
With a distance contract you normally have fourteen days to withdraw as a consumer. Because the rental begins immediately when you take the power bank from the terminal, you expressly request us to perform the service straight away, and that right of withdrawal lapses once the rental is complete. Until that moment you can end the rental by returning the power bank; you then pay for the days that have started.
17. Complaints
If you are unhappy about something, email us. We respond within one working day and aim to resolve it within fourteen days. If we cannot resolve it together, you can bring your dispute before the competent Dutch court, or use the European ODR platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
18. Changes
We may amend these terms. The version that applies to your rental is the version on this page at the moment you started the rental. If we change something material — the rate, for instance — we announce it in advance in the app and on this site.
19. Governing law
Dutch law applies to these terms and to every rental agreement. Disputes are submitted to the competent court in the Netherlands, unless mandatory law designates another court.
